Autism Dogs Charity is seeking a passionate and experienced Assistance Dog Trainer to join our dedicated Training Team. This full-time role offers a unique opportunity to transform lives through our specialised Autism Assistance Dog Programme, recognised as the most successful of its kind in the UK.

About the Role: As an Assistance Dog Trainer, you will:

  • Work primarily from our HQ in Congleton, with travel opportunities.
  • Gain hands-on experience with our proven training methods, learning from qualified trainers.
  • Be part of the journey to train, assess, and qualify Autism Assistance Dogs to our exceptional standards.
  • Receive comprehensive training in autism, safeguarding, and dog-handling techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training assistance dogs in basic obedience, public access, and advanced tasks specific to autism support.
  • Conducting temperament assessments and socialisation activities.
  • Collaborating with clients to ensure the best dog-handler match and supporting their training.

What We're Looking For:

  • A minimum of 1 year of dog training experience.
  • A commitment to excellence in canine welfare and client support.
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to a high-impact, rewarding programme.
  • A valid driving licence and use of your own vehicle to transport dogs (business insurance premium and mileage paid).
  • Access is possible for the use of a company vehicle, subject to insurance criteria being met.
